Recipe of the Week: Cilantro Mint Turkey Burger

Get in the BBQ spirit and throw these turkey burgers on the grill!

This recipe is a definite crowd pleaser during BBQ parties. The ingredients in this recipe have Middle Eastern influence, producing a light but filing burger that is full of flavor. Be aware that these burgers do take awhile to cook, but it is definitely worth the wait! You can dress the turkey burger up by adding a bun and condiments, or you can eat it with rice and vegetables or beans. And if you find yourself with leftover uncooked turkey patties, you can always put them in the freezer to cook at a later time.

Ingredients:

  • 1 pound lean ground turkey
  • 1/2 cup yogurt
  • 1/2 cup chopped mint
  • 1 medium sized onion, chopped
  • 2 tbsp spicy mustard
  • 4 tbsp cilantro
  • 2 green chilies
  • 2-3 cloves of garlic
  • 1 tsp minced ginger
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 cup breadcrumbs
  • salt and pepper

In a blender, make cilantro garlic paste by blending the cilantro, chilies, garlic, and ginger together. In a large bowl, mix the ground turkey and 2 tbsps of the cilantro garlic paste. Add an egg, yogurt, mint, onions, mustard, and salt and pepper to the bowl and mix in. Let the turkey mix marinate in the fridge for about 2 hours. After 2 hours, take the bowl out of the fridge and mix in the breadcrumbs. Make medium sized patties with the turkey mix and cook on the grill for about 20 minutes. Serve hot.
