Reading Room in Renovated Boyden Library Named After Local Company

When library patrons finally get to reenter the Boyden Library next week for the first time since Nov. 2011, they may be surprised to see the new name of the main room.

While naming rooms and parts of buildings after donors is nothing new, the main reading room of the newly renovated building will be called the "Mayfair Reading Room."

Named after the real estate company run by Foxborough Planning Board Chairman Kevin Winefield and his wife Dianne Weinfeld, the naming of the room was a result of the couple's contributions to the library project.

On the Mayfair Reality Group website, the about us section notes that, “Both Kevin and Dianne are strongly committed to the support of a wide variety of local organizations, including the Foxboro Hockomock YMCA, the Foxboro Discretionary Fund, Temple Israel in Sharon and the Massachusetts General Hospital Stoeckle Center for Primary Care.”

Boyden Library Board of Trustees chairman Kevin Penders told the Foxboro Reporter that sign represents a commitment to the library and not the alternative.

"I think that everyone involved with the project recognizes this as a traditional way to thank donors for their investment in the project. The donations received through the capital campaign are a mixture of businesses and individuals,” Penders told the paper.

Aside from the Mayfair Reading Room, the "Spinney Children's Room," and the "Spier Family Wing," are the other two sections of the library named after donors.
