Over the past 25 years, Foxborough’s Founders Day has grown into a wonderful day of community fun, food and fellowship to celebrate the town’s civic pride.
To commemorate the event’s 25th anniversary, the Founders Day Planning Committee has set a special theme for the June 8 celebration.
“The Theme of Founders Day 2013 is "Celebrating Foxborough Founders Day 25th Anniversary," the Founders Day Planning Committee announced on its Facebook page Tuesday. “We have a lot to be thankful for and would like to make this year’s celebration very special. Think of a way you can participate and help us to continue another 25 years.”
Foxborough-based organizations and businesses interested in participating in this year’s parade are encouraged to build upon this theme as they prepare their entries for the parade.
Every civic and religious organization in town is encouraged to participate in the field festivities and raise funds for their various organizations by selling food, running games and raffles or selling novelties and other products.
Local businesses and individuals are encouraged to support the festivities with cash donations to cover the cost of the parade and fireworks as well as the field activities.
The Founders Day Planning Committee meets the first Tuesday of each month at 7 p.m. at Church of Emmanuel in Foxborough. All are welcomed to join the committee.
If you can’t volunteer your time at these meetings you can still contribute by donating to the Founders Day fund.
“Donations are gratefully accepted year round and make a huge difference,” the planning committee said on its website. “Foxborough Founders Day is an all-volunteer effort and your donation of any amount helps defray the cost of the fireworks and other Founders Day events.”
