A new expansion at Patriot Place is closer to reality after the planning board voted to approve the project last week.
The 5.5 acre expansion, located in a parking lot near the Renaissance Inn, will feature a CVS, a quick-serve restaurant, and a 122-room hotel.
Less than 700 parking spots that were mostly used during major stadium events will be moved to lots on the other side of Route 1.
According to the board, the site plan is compliant with the Foxboro zoning bylaws and is designed to minimize the impact it has on the environment and the community to the extent practicable.
Construction now has two years to start and then 18 months to complete after the issuing of the building permit.
