MBTA Commuter Rail Regular Weekday Schedules Restored Sept. 12

Amtrak Northeast Corridor Tie Replacement Project expected to wrap up; Providence/Stoughton line to have newly modified schedule.

The Amtrak Northeast Corridor Rail Tie Replacement Project on shared MBTA communter rail lines is concluding soon, allowing restoration of regular weekday schedules on the Fairmount, Franklin, and Needham lines, according to the Massachusetts Bay Commuter Railroad Company (MBCR).

This change will become effective on Monday, September 12, 2011. All customers who use the Providence/Stoughton line will have a newly modified schedule on that date as follows:

Weekday, Inbound:

  • Train #8802   Departs TF Green at 6:33pm; Arrives South Station at 6:48pm
  • Train #8804   Departs TF Green at 7:38pm; Arrives South Station at 7:53pm

Weekday, Outbound:

  • Train #8801   Departs South Station at 5:41am; Arrives at TF Green at 6:01am
  • Train #8803   Departs South Station at 6:00am; Arrives at TF Green at 6:25am
  • Train #813     Departs South Station at 4:35pm; Arrives at Providence at 5:44pm
  • Train # 815    Departs South Station at 5:00pm; Arrives at TF Green at 6:25pm
  • Train # 817    Departs South Station at 5:40pm; Arrives at TF Green at 7:03pm
  • Train # 819    Departs South Station at 6:10pm; Arrives at TF Green at 7:30pm

Weekend, Outbound:

  • Train #1805/2805 Departs South Station at 11:05am; Arrives at Providence at 12:15pm         
  • Train# 1807/2807 Departs South Station at 1:05pm; Arrives at Providence at 2:15pm

Fairmont, Franklin, and Needham line customers are encouraged to visit the MBTA website (www.mbta.com) to review their lines’ reinstated schedules.

Amtrak began replacing rail ties on shared portion of the Northeast Corridor Main Line in June between Back Bay Station and Forest Hills.
