Local Day Care Children Create Handmade Valentine Cards For Seniors

Cards crafted by the children delivered to area seniors on Valentine's Day.

The children at Butterfly Landing Family Child Care made positive use of their creative time recently.

The children, with help from Butterfly Landing’s owner, Laura Feeney, painted dozens of Valentine’s Day cards specifically for area seniors to be delivered with Tuesday’s meals on wheels delivery.

Feeney said that the children complete many projects as part of the daily curriculum and stressed the importance of giving back to the community.

“This project was special," she noted. "Usually, the children’s art creations are displayed proudly on their family’s refrigerator. Our hope was that these cards would bring a smile to someone’s day who normally wouldn’t receive a young child’s artwork. It shows that little hands can make a big difference.”
