Foxborough Selectmen Support Pedestrian Bridge

Selectmen voted this week to support building a bridge over Route 1.

Foxborough's Board of Selectmen voted unanimously Tuesday night, April 26, to support the construction of a pedestrian bridge over Route 1 at Gillette Stadium.

U.S. Rep. Barney Frank, a Democrat who represents Foxborough in Washington, signaled to the board his support for the bridge. The board agreed that pedestrian safety played a major part in their decision.

Chairwoman Lynda Walsh went onto note that Route 1 is considered a major highway with cars speeding down at an average of 50 mph. Combining dangerous vehicle speeds with over 75 events a year at Gillette Stadium and safety becomes a major concern.
