Tropical Storm Andrea may have brought 4.29 inches of rain to Foxborough Friday into Saturday morning but could not dampen the spirits of Foxoborough enthusiasts celebrating 25 years of Founders Day.

The community came out in full force to celebrate Saturday with a parade, field day activities, food, raffles and fireworks as the annual town celebration turned 25.

"Thank you to everyone who came out to enjoy Founders Day on the revised schedule," said the Founders Day Committee via its website Saturday. "The one hour delay for the parade made for a perfect procession and the skies were clearing as we started the walk.

"The activities – moved from Booth Playground to Foxborough High School due to the soaked field — went very well and by noon we had sunny skies and a standing room only crowd. We are so grateful to everyone for their understanding of the need for delay and the move, but it still turned out to be a perfect day."

Merry Cutler's comment on the Founders Day Facebook page seemed to sum up what many residents in town were feeling about the 25th anniversary of the event Saturday.

"Thank you, [Founders Day Committee], for another stellar Founders Day celebration," Cutler said via Facebook. ... "The fireworks [were] gorgeous as always. I can't imagine that the decision-makers have any fingernails left, after Mother Nature tried to wash out the weekend."

And Foxboro Cable Access, which provided live broadcast of the day and will re-air its Founders Day coverage throughout the week, took time to thank the committee for another job well done.

"Once again, a safe and fun family event was planned and executed by the Founders Day committee," FCA said via its Facebook page. "Thank you!"
