Dress for Sox-cess" by wearing Boston Red Sox gear to work or school on opening day tomorrow, April 8.

Foxborough local businesses are joining Rally Against CancerSM to support the Jimmy Fund and the Boston Red Sox.

Team Invensys led by Christina Volkringer and Team GE Foxboro led by Jason Bourgeois are “rallying” to win a visit from either Tim Wakefield or Clay Buchholz, Red Sox pitchers and Jimmy Fund Co-Captains.

When the Red Sox suit up against the New York Yankees for opening day at Fenway Park Friday, April 8, Red Sox Nation is encouraged to Rally Against Cancer to benefit Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and its Jimmy Fund.  By contributing $5 or more to the Jimmy Fund, participants have the opportunity to “Dress for Sox-cess” by wearing Boston Red Sox gear to work or school on April 8.

“As a long-time supporter of the Jimmy Fund, I see how life-changing cancer is,” says first-time Rally spokesplayer Wakefield in their press release. “Rally Against Cancer is an easy and fun way for all of us to help the Jimmy Fund give hope to the adults and kids who are fighting this disease.”

“I am honored to return as a Rally Against Cancer spokesplayer,” says Buchholz. “I have seen first-hand in the Dana-Farber clinics the amazing patients bravely fighting their cancer, and I encourage Red Sox Nation to support the Jimmy Fund.”

The Jimmy Fund supports Boston’s Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, helping to raise funds for adult and pediatric cancer care and research and improve the chances of survival for cancer patients around the world. It is an official charity of the Boston Red Sox, as well as the official charity of the Massachusetts Chiefs of Police Association, the Pan-Massachusetts Challenge, and the Variety Children's Charity of New England. Since 1948, the generosity of millions of people has helped the Jimmy Fund (www.jimmyfund.org) save countless lives and reduce the burden of cancer.
