Bumpy Road for Library Renovation Project

Chairman Larry Harrington put the brakes on a planned library discussion Tuesday night because of impending legal action on the dispute.

Selectmen Mark Sullivan's word of caution from a , may soon be forgotten. During a discussion between the Library trustees, permanent building committee and neighbors, Sullivan expressed his desire for the long-running dispute over the Boyden Library project to be worked out. 

"I would like to see that this can be worked out. Lets stay out of court with this one," noted Sullivan.

However, at Tuesday's nights board meeting, the public was informed that the neighbors, who are opposed to the planned expansion of the Boyden Library, may be ready to settle the issue in court. 

Selectmen Chairman,  Larry Harrington, put the brakes on a planned discussion on the library project due to the lawyer representing library opponents notifying the town of impending legal action on the dispute.

"We have been advised not to have a discussion over the Boyden Library," noted Harrington.

On June 8, the design review board voted 4-0 in determing that the design failed to the meet the standards in Foxborough's zoning bylaws. The Library Board of Trustees and the Municipal and School Building Committee both support the proposed plan.

As of today, the project is being reviewed by the planning board. A site plan hearing is set for July 12 at town hall.
