BREAKING: Aaron Hernandez Charged with Murder: No Bail, Taken to Jail

The football player was arrested this morning at his North Attleboro home.

New England Patriot tight-end Aaron Hernandez is facing charges of one count of murder in the death of Odin Lloyd, who was found dead in the former Patriot tight-end's neighborhood, June 17.

He was also faces five firearm charges for unlawful possesion of a weapon.

Hernandez was denied bail and sent to the Bristol House of Corrections in North Dartmouth.

UPDATED 4:45 p.m.

Hernandez was removed for a white van and ushered in the Bristol House of Corrections in North Dartmouth in handcuffs. He was still wearing the white t-shirt and the red shorts he had on when he was arrested this morning at his North Attleboro home.

Bristol County District Attorney Sam Sutter called the case an "ongoing investigation." He asked people with any information on the case to reach out to the North Attleboro police, Massachusetts State Police or his office.

UPDATED 3:50 p.m.

Hernandez is on his way to the Bristol County House of Corrections in North Dartmouth where he will be held. He was placed into a van for transfer.

In a brief statement, Hernandez's attorney Michael Fee of Ropes & Gray said he wouldn't be commenting on the case, but he did said,"Aaron was doing fine."

A court order was issued by the judge preventing the lawyers aobut talking the case before it goes to trial. Fee had asked for that in the courtroom.

Hernandez was taken into custody this morning at around 8:45 a.m. after a pair of law enforement officials showed up at his home. He was lead out of the house wearing red shorts and a white t-shirt drapped over his upper body. He was placed in a North Attleboro police cruiser and taken to the police station.

Footage taken by WHDH shows the football player leaving his home in handcufts and led into the back of a police cruiser.

Later in the day, Hernandez was taken from the North Attleboro police station to Attleboro District Court.

After he was arraigned, Hernandez was reportedly take to the Bristol County Jail. Arrangements were made for his arrival during the day, according to FOX-25.

UPDATED: 2:20 p.m.

The family of Odin Lloyd is the Attleboro Court House waiting for the arraignment to begin.

FOX-25 is reporting Hernandez will be transferred to the Bristol County Jail in North Dartmouth.

UPDATED: 1:40 p.m.

Hernandez has left the North Attleboro police station in a police car headed for Attleboro District Court.

It is being reported that the arraigement will start at 2 p.m. at Attleboro District Court. A large crowd is waiting there. Hernandez is still being held at the North Attleboro Police Department, awaiting the ride to court.

Bristol County DA Sam Sutter was at the North Attleboro police department and confirmed the time when Hernandez will be in court, but didn't say what Hernandez will be charged with.

The New England Patriots have removed Hernandez from their website and his jersey is no longer for sale at the Pro Shops, according to FOX 25.

UPDATED 10:25 a.m.

The New England Patriots are reporting on Twitter that Hernandez has been released by the team. Last year, Hernandez signed a multi-year contract with the team for $40 million, including a $12 million signing bonus.

In a statement released on their website, the Patriots said:

A young man was murdered last week and we extend our sympathies to the family and friends who mourn his loss. Words cannot express the disappointment we feel knowing that one of our players was arrested as a result of this investigation. We realize that law enforcement investigations into this matter are ongoing. We support their efforts and respect the process. At this time, we believe this transaction is simply the right thing to do.”

FOX-25 is also reporting that the Bristol Sheriff office is preparing for an inmate arrival.

UPDATED 9:50 a.m.

Bristol County District Attorney Sam Sutter is confirming Hernandez was taken into custody by Massachusetts State Police and North Attleboro and will be arraigned later today in Attleboro District Court. Sutter said he will be making a statement after Hernandez's court appearance.

The New England Patriots are expected to issue a comment later in the day through the Associated Press, according to a FOX-25 report.
