Bites Nearby: Boston Tavern

You could stand on a corner and look around until a restaurant sign draws you in. But we've got a better idea. Each week, Foxborough Patch will pick a great restaurant either in town or nearby that is worth checking out.

Here's this week's choice:

Boston Tavern

Overview: The Boston Tavern, located in West Bridgewater, is a family-friendly restaurant and pub, open for lunch and dinner 7 days a week. Whether you come hungry for North End style Italian food, Boston baked scrod or Big Papi style hamburgers, the Boston Tavern has got you covered. 

Décor: The Boston Tavern has a laid back feel to it. True New Englanders will feel right at home with Boston sport pictures filling the walls surrounding over-sized booths. The bar echoes the feel of "Cheers Boston" and patrons wearing Revolutionary hats can often be spotted at the bar.

Drinks: The restaurant has a full liquor license and offers many specialty drinks as well as a good sized wine and beer list.  The Back Bay Dirty Water cocktail is anything like it's clever name. The Back Bay Dirty Water is a sweet combination of cranberry juice, Malibu, orange, pineapple and absolute pear.

Appetizers:  "Classic Boston" is the name of the game at the Boston Tavern. The menu offers something for everyone. Patrons can expect to enjoy hand breaded onion rings, buffalo chicken tenders, fried ravioli, steak skins and clam chowder.

Entrees: No matter what you choose for dinner here, you can expect your portion size to be larger than any big appetite.

Take a trip to the North End by sampling their chicken, eggplant or veal parmesan. The dish is served piping hot and covered in gooey cheese and red sauce. The buttered pasta makes for a great compliment to the dish.

If seafood is more your style, then the Boston Tavern's "baked scrod" will be sure to delight. Buttery crumbs top an over-sized piece of scrod. The scrod comes with a choice of potato or rice. Other seafood options include shrimp scampi, grand slam clam plate and a fried clam roll.

Burgers, triple decker sandwich's, steak tips and mac n' cheese help to round out the menu offerings.

Sides:  Some meals are served with a choice of vegetable and potato, rice, or fries. Sweet potato fries and macaroni salad is also offered.

Desserts: Of course there is dessert, but the entrée portions are very generous, so you might want to get yours to go!

Service: The staff was accommodating, happy to please, and ready to serve.

Overall, the Boston Tavern has something for everyone. Whether you are looking for take out, a fun dining experience or a casual bite to eat, Boston Tavern is the place to go.
