Big Y Special Permit Hearing Continued to Aug. 18

Residents meet with the planning board and the proponent to discuss their concerns over the project.

Abutters of the in Foxfield Plaza met this week with the planning board to discuss their concerns over the project.

One major concern with the plan was the possible construction of  access to the supermarket opposite Alex Lane in Foxborough. 

Alex Lane resident, Leo Potter, noted that the plan to construct an access to the Big Y opposite his street could increase neighborhood traffic.

Other concerns over the Big Y project included the various problems that construction would bring to the area such as noise, drainage and traffic control.

Overall, residents are asking the right questions and so far, no-one has asked that the project be rejected by the planning board.

The Big Y, which already has 29 stores throughout Massachusetts, is seeking to construct a 55,000-square-foot supermarket in Foxfield Plaza with the Foxboro Furniture building being renovated for retail.

The special permit hearing for the Big Y will continue on Aug. 18 at 7:30 p.m. at the public safety building.
