Monday, Nov. 26:

Foxborough Hosts Community Forum for Child Sexual Abuse Prevention

In light of the recent disclosures of sexual abuse in Foxborough, the Foxborough Public Schools, police department and Hockomock Area YMCA has come together to offer a community prevention forum for child sexual abuse prevention.

The forum, which will be held at the Ahern Middle School auditorium on Monday, Nov. 26 at 7 p.m., will provide an important opportunity to bring the community together to discuss the issues of child sexual abuse, learn more about its devastating impact and to find out together as a community, what Foxborough can do to prevent it. 

This presentation will be hosted by the Foxborough School Department and the Foxborough Police Department and facilitated and convened with the support of the Hockomock Area YMCA.

No pre-registration is required and all are welcomed to attend.

Music and Fun for Little Ponies with Miss Pam Begins

The Boyden Library presents Music and Fun for Little Ponies with Miss Pam at 10 and 11 a.m. at the Foxboro Recreation Department. Pre-registration was required for the event. Children attending are encouraged to bring a toy pony or another stuffed animal as they participate with pony songs and other activities.

Board of Water and Sewer Commissioners

The Foxborough Board of Water and Sewer will meet at 7 p.m. in the Water Department Office to discuss the following business:

  • Update with Dan Krantz from the Kraft Group
  • Administration of the Billboard Advertising contract with FXP and possible RFP for re-use water tank
  • Sewer District an estimated completion date
  • Mass Water Resources Commission Witch Pond well monitoring
  • Office spaces and staffing for water department
  • Special Town Meeting and Warrant articles
  • FY14 budget

Conservation Commission

Tuesday, Nov. 27

Board of Selectmen

Foxborough's Board of Selectmen will meet Tuesday to discuss the following business:

  • A public hearing will be conducted regarding the Taylor Swift concerts at Gillette Stadium in July
  • A joint meeting with Chief Financial Officer Randy Scollins, school committee, Schools Superintendent Debra Spinelli and the advisory committee to review the FY14 revenue/expenses forecast and to discuss the FY14 budget goals.

Wednesday, Nov. 28

Advisory Committee

Foxborough's Advisory Committee will meet to discuss Special Town Warrant articles, including Article 6, which would fund the construction of a community artificial turf field at Foxborough High School.

Ring Night / Parents and Students

Foxborough parents and students are invited to ring night at the Foxborough High School cafeteria from 5 to 7 p.m.

Burrell School Holiday Workshop

Burrell School will be holding a holiday workshop at 6 p.m.

Thursday, Nov. 29

'Cowboy Spirit' Movie Premiere at Orpheum Theatre

Cowboy Spirit Films will be hosting the premiere of the feature film, "Cowboy Spirit," which will include a meet and greet with the starring cast. This event is open to the public and will be held at the Orpheum Theatre.

Produced and filmed locally in and around Boston, this independent film tells the story of Ted Walters, who must draw on the lessons he learned as a kid from his grandfather, a champion rodeo cowboy, as he tries to help a little girl who is battling cancer. 

Doors will open at 5 p.m. and one of the starring actresses, Ayla Brown, will be performing live at 6 p.m. The screening of Cowboy Spirit will begin promptly at 7 p.m. Immediately following the movie, there will be a Q&A session with key members of the cast and crew.

The Orpheum Theatre is located at 1 School St. Concessions will be open and available. Free parking is available around the Foxboro Common.

Planning Board

Foxborough's Planning Board will meet at 7:30 p.m. at the Andrew Gala Meeting Room to hold a public hearing for approval of a definitive subdivision plan entitled "Lincoln Hill Estates." Click here for more information.

Advisory Committee

Foxborough's Advisory Committee will meet at 7 p.m. in the high school's Media Center to discuss Special Town Meeting Warrant articles.

Igo School Fall Concert

Music students of the Igo Elementary School will perform a Fall Concert from 1:15 to 2:245 p.m.

Foxborough High School Open House

Foxborough High School will hold an open house from 6 to 9 p.m.

Friday, Nov. 30

Voter Registration at Town Hall

Foxborough's Board of Registrars will be holding voter registration day to register new voters prior to the Special Town Meeting scheduled for Tuesday, Dec. 11. Registration will be held at the office of the Town Clerk and is scheduled as follows:

  • Friday, Nov. 30 from 8:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. Last day you can register to be eligible to vote for the Special Town Meeting. All Foxborough residents interested in registering to vote or changing their party enrollment may appear to complete a voter registration application.

An applicant for registration must be:

  • At least 18 years of age by the date of the election
  • a citizen of the United States
  • A resident of the town of Foxborough

The Town Clerk's Office is also open to accept voter registration between the hours of 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Fridays and Tuesday evenings from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Advisory Committee

The Foxborough Advisory Committee will meet with the Board of Selectmen at 7:35 p.m. in the Andrew Gala Meeting Room of Town Hall. Ad-Com is expected to discuss the town's FY14 budget with selectmen.

Foxborough High School Hosts Guest Speaker

Brian Boyle will speak to students at Foxborough High School from 1 to 2 p.m.

Saturday, Dec. 1

Foxboro Jaycees' Decorating the Common

Foxboro Jaycees' Decorating of the Common & Nativity Scene Setup will begin at 9 a.m. on the Foxboro Common. Lights, garlands, bows, wreaths and the Nativity Scene make the Foxboro Common ready for the holiday season. Please come out for a few hours and join the Jaycees for this family event of decorating the Common. Everyone is welcome, and students can even count this work towards National Honor Society or other community service credit.

Gillette Stadium to Host 6 MIAA Super Bowls

Twelve teams will compete for their division’s Super Bowl title on New England’s most famous football field. Three Eastern Mass. divisions, one Central Mass. division and one Western Mass. division will crown their champions at Gillette Stadium. They will be joined by thousands of cheering fans, cheerleaders, school bands and special guests.
 
The Kraft family has donated use of Gillette Stadium for the Super Bowls for the last six years and will offer participants and their fans an NFL-caliber game presentation, with music and replays on the stadium’s high-definition video boards. Kraft Sports Productions will produce a live television broadcast of all six games.

Bethany Church Christmas Fair

Bethany Congregational Church, located in Foxborough center, will hold its annual Christmas Fair from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday.

Popular features at the church's traditional holiday fair include fresh decorated wreaths, the silent auction featuring items such as gift certificates from local vendors and donations from generous local businesses and church members, treasures for all from grandma's attic, home made baked goods, candy, hand crafts, knitting and gently-used books, music and videos. Back by popular demand, will be a selection of imaginative themed baskets.

Children will enjoy fun activities at the Children's fair including games, crafts, face painting and a visit from Santa from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Parents and children can browse a selection of gently used toys and other children's items.

The church will serve lunch beginning at 11:30 a.m. and coffee and donuts will be available before lunch.

Neponset Choral Society Winter Concert

Come savor the joyous sounds of The Neponset Choral Society’s annual winter concert the first weekend of December. 

The concert will be held on Saturday at 8 p.m. and Sunday at 2:30 p.m. at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, 116 South St., Foxborough.  Celebrating its 64th season, and under the direction of Michael V Turner, the concert will feature “Missa Brevis” by Palestrina, as well as Bruckner’s Motets and other selections.  Tickets can be purchased at the door for $20 (seniors and students $18), or in advance for a $2 discount by calling Carolyn Guiod at 508-668-3407.
