Annual Mother/Son Dodgeball Tournament A Hit

Second Annual Mother/Son Dodgeball Tournament at Gillette Stadium was held yesterday, May 6.

Loud cheers were heard outside of the Gillette Stadium gates in Foxborough yesterday. Inside Gillette's gates, intense competition lurked. No, this was not a Patriots/Jets game. Instead, inside the massive stadium, a passionate game of dodge ball was erupting.

The Foxboro Recreation Department, in collaboration with the New England Patriots, kicked off Mother's Day weekend, Friday May 6, with the Second Annual Mother/Son Dodgeball Tournament.

The dodgeball tournament was held on the field at Gillette Stadium.

DJ Paul was on hand to keep the crowd entertained with music, games, contests and prizes.

This year's tournament drew a large crowd. Close to 500 families participated in the dodgeball festivities and more importantly participated in mother and son bonding time.

"This is a great community event, great for mothers and sons to spend time together," said Deborah Giardino, Foxborough's Recreation Department Director. "It was a charitable act on Mr. Kraft's part for allowing the Recreation Department to use the field as our venue."

Giardino went onto note that for many of the children attending, it is their only opportunity to spend time out on the stadium field - "the field of giants."
