5 Things: Spring Fair, Touch-A-Truck, Cupcake Charlie's Opening & More

1. Expect a Sunny Saturday Followed by a Rainy Sunday in Foxborough

Saturday’s weather in Foxborough, according to the National Weather Service based in Taunton, calls for sunny, with a high near 73. Light and variable wind. Saturday night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 47. South wind 5 to 7 mph becoming calm in the evening. Sunday: A slight chance of showers after 2 p.m. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 67. Light and variable wind becoming south 5 to 10 mph in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 20 percent. Sunday night: A chance of showers, mainly after 3 a.m. Patchy fog after 4 a.m. Otherwise, mostly cloudy, with a low around 53. South wind 5 to 8 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30 percent. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.

2. Foxboro Recreation’s 6th Annual Touch-A-Truck Event is Sunday

Foxboro Recreation is set to host its sixth annual Touch-A-Truck event on Sunday from 10 a.m. to noon at the Payson Road complex.

“Come out for our free family fun event for truck lovers of all ages,” Foxboro Rec. said in a release announcing the event. “Get up close to the hard-working vehicles, trucks and buses that help us around Foxborough every day.”

The event provides everyone the opportunity to climb on everything from a bus to a dump truck. Great photo opportunity for parents with their kids.

3. Foxboro Jaycees Spring Fair on the Common is Saturday

The Foxboro Jaycees are hosting its third annual Spring Fair on the Common on Saturday, May 18th from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

About 50 local artists, crafters, and vendors are expected to fill the town Common for the event. Products offered will include handmade quilts and clothing, woodworking, soaps and other body care products, specialty foods, pet accessories, handbags, candles and scented warmers, hand-crafted jewelry, photographs, painted glass, children's clothing, games and toys and so much more.

There will also be a bouncy house for the kids and raffle items available.

This fundraising event for the Foxboro Jaycees will help fund several community programs the organization coordinates, such as the annual Easter Egg Hunt, Caroling on the Common, Holiday Decorations for the Common, Bandstand repair, Fruit baskets for the Foxboro Discretionary Fund, Sand for Seniors and other local causes they support.

4. Patriot Place Events

Here’s what’s happening around Patriot Place this weekend:

(Saturday, noon) - Spring Fever - Mad Science: Join the world’s leading science enrichment provider Mad Science® for a unique, hands-on science experience for children that are as entertaining as they are educational.

(Saturday, 9:30 p.m.) - Thirty 6 Red at Toby Keith’s I Love This Bar and Grill: This high-energy cover band does it all.  Their philosophy is to play great songs and make sure their audience is enjoying the show from start to finish. 

5. Cupcake Charlie’s Grand Opening Celebration is Saturday

The grand opening of Cupcake Charlie’s at Patriot Place on Saturday, May 18th is sure to be a family event with cupcake giveaways, face painting, a photo booth and a DJ.

The award-winning, Massachusetts-based gourmet cupcake bakery offers delicious, sweet treats in a fun, festive atmosphere. Saturday’s grand opening will be a daylong celebration featuring the following events:

Cupcake Charlie’s Grand Opening at Patriot Place Schedule

  •  11 a.m. – Grand opening: Every hour on the hour one dozen cupcakes will be raffled off.
  • Noon to 4 p.m. - Caricature Artist; Music DJ; Photo Booth; Face Painters; Temporary Tattoo Station
  • 2-4 p.m. - Appearance by New England Revolution Mascot, “Slyde”
  • 3-7 p.m. - Face Painting
  • 3:30-6:30 p.m. - Balloon Artists

Cupcake Charlie’s enjoyed a “soft opening” Friday for customers shopping at Patriot Place.
