5 Things: Rockland Trust Grants $1K to Doolittle Home, Ahern 5th Grade Band Tours & More

1. Expect a Sunny Tuesday with a High Near 75 in Foxborough

Today’s weather in Foxborough, according to the National Weather Service based in Taunton, calls for sunny, with a high near 75. Northwest wind 9 to 14 mph. Tuesday night: Clear, with a low around 46. Northwest wind around 5 mph becoming calm in the evening.

2. Rockland Trust Charitable Foundation Grants $1,000 to Doolittle Home

The Rockland Trust Charitable Foundation today announced a grant of $1,000 to the Doolittle Home in Foxboro to purchase a senior-friendly television and DVD player to support the home’s mission of providing quality housing and care to the elderly.  The Doolittle Home provides a wide variety of services for the elderly in Massachusetts, including life care, residency, and respite care.

“The Doolittle Home provides critical services to elderly citizens in our community, and we at Rockland Trust are pleased to assist them in their mission to serve the community,” said Ralph Valente, Director of the Rockland Trust Charitable Foundation.  “We hope that our donation will further aid the home in its efforts to give residents the best living experience possible.” 

The Doolittle Home’s staff of doctors, nurses, therapists, and caretakers is professionally trained to work with elderly citizens, and specializes in insuring comfort and stability in a new environment. The Home’s life care services provide room and meals to residents for life, as well as services including medication management, activities, and nursing staff.  For those caring for ill loved ones at home, the Doolittle Home provides respite care for one-week or longer stays, including housekeeping, activities, laundry, and other amenities to provide busy caretakers with a well-deserved rest.

“At Doolittle Home, our staff, services, and programs provide opportunities for elderly citizens to receive the proper care they need in a pleasurable environment,” said DeAnna Willis, Executive Director of Doolittle Home. “We are very grateful for this donation from Rockland Trust, which will be used to create an entertaining, educational, and stimulating environment for our elderly residents.” 

3. Ahern’s 5th Grade Band Tours Elementary Schools Tuesday

Ahern Middle School’s fifth grade band will tour the town’s elementary schools Tuesday.

4. Patriot Place Events

Here’s a look at what’s happening around Patriot Place today:

Eastern Mountain Sports Tuesday Night Paddles: Join Eastern Mountain Sports at Patriot Place for Tuesday Night Paddles. Every Tuesday from 5 p.m. to dark. $10 per person will get you equipment and instructions.

6 p.m. - Spring Fever – Zumba: Zumba with Fierce Love Fitness. This is a Latin dance based class that lets you adapt the pace according to your fitness level.

7 to 9 p.m. - Trivia at CBS Scene: Join CBS Scene for this new and exciting concept in team trivia, using state of the art HDTVs. You could win prizes provided by MA State Lottery, CBS Scene gift cards or exclusive apple products.

11 a.m. - Spring Fever - Bounce Houses: Jump around all afternoon in inflatable bounce houses. Located in the North Marketplace outside of Life is good, enjoy the afternoon as the kids bounce the day away.

11 a.m. - Storytime at Showcase Cinema de Lux: Meet Barney at Kids Club Storytime Tuesday.

5. Blood Drive at Foxborough Regional Charter School Set for June 14

Join Foxborough Regional Charter School’s National Honor Society to give blood at the Children’s Hospital blood drive. The drive will be held at Foxborough Regional Charter School, 131 Central St. on Friday, June 14 from noon to 6 p.m.
