1. Expect Showers and Possible Thunderstorms Wednesday in Foxborough

Today’s weather in Foxborough, according to the National Weather Service based in Taunton, calls for showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm before 9 a.m., then a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 9 a.m. Patchy fog before 11 a.m. Otherwise, cloudy, with a high near 72. South wind 7 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60 percent. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms. Wednesday night: A chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly before 10 p.m. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 61. South wind 7 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40 percent. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

2. Foxborough Board of Selectmen Meet Tuesday to Discuss Town Manager Contract Renewal

Foxborough’s Board of Selectmen will meet at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday to discuss Town Manager Kevin Paicos’ contract renewal before going into executive session at 7:45 p.m. to discuss strategy for negotiations with non-union personnel. Paicos’ four-year contract expires on June 30th, 2014 but selectmen must decide on the town manager’s future with the town before July 1. If the board elects not to renew Paicos’ contract he must be informed with one year’s notice.

3. Patriots Player to Sign Autographs at Cupcake Charlie’s Wednesday

Stop by Cupcake Charlie’s at Patriot Place Wednesday from 4 to 5 p.m. to meet Patriots player Rob Ninkovich, who will be on hand signing autographs and taking photos with fans. Bring your Patriots memorabilia to be signed, your cameras for photos and your sweet tooth for cupcakes.

5. Foxborough Regional Charter School Grade 9 Scholar to Attend USNA Summer STEM Program

Foxborough Regional Charter School Grade 9 Scholar Sumedha Sahay was accepted into the United States Naval Academy Summer Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) Program.

Sumedha was selected into this prestigious program based on academic proficiency and community enrichment, as well as personal leadership potential. 

The STEM Program is designed to encourage rising 8th to 11th grade students to pursue a course of study in engineering and technology throughout high school and college.

Sumedha will gain exposure to the Number five “Best Undergraduate Engineering Program” in the country, as ranked by U.S. News & World Report. She will spend a portion of her summer break in world-class lab facilities that provide a unique learning environment outside the traditional classroom and have the opportunity to experience real-life applications of math and science principles through hands on practical learning.
