5 Things: Katie Adair Named School Committee Chair, Free Food at Bar Louie & More

1. Expect a Chance of Showers and Thunderstorms in Foxborough Wednesday

Today’s weather in Foxborough, according to the National Weather Service based in Taunton, calls for a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms after 1 p.m. Areas of fog before 10 a.m. Otherwise, mostly cloudy, with a high near 81. Light southwest wind increasing to 5 to 10 mph in the morning. Chance of precipitation is 20 percent. Wednesday night: A slight chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 61. South wind around 8 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20 percent.

2. Adair Chosen as Foxborough’s 2013-14 School Committee Chair

On Monday, Foxborough’s School Committee reorganized in its first meeting since the April 30th election and elected Katie Adair as the committee’s chair and Bruce Gardner as the committee’s vice chair for the 2013-14 school year.

The committee also thanked former member Martha Slattery for her 15 years of service on the committee.

“There’s been a lot [Slattery] has done both in front and behind the scenes,” Adair said. “We want to make sure we thank her for all of her service and acknowledge that.”

3. Bar Louie Offering Free Food All Day Wednesday

Bar Louie at Patriot Place has launched a new menu that includes 28 new items. To celebrate, they are hosting a free food day (item of equal or lesser value) on Wednesday. Buy one new food item and get another food item free. Featured items on the new food menu include blackened salmon sliders, firecracker flatbread and meatball pasta. Bar Louie has also revamped its cocktail menu with libations like the rat pack martini, watermelon margarita and strawberry peach bellini.  

Bar Louie also offers other weekly promotions that include selected half-priced appetizers every Monday thru Friday from 4-7 p.m., $1 burgers and $1 PBR beers every Tuesday from 5 p.m. to close and live entertainment on the weekends. Here’s a look at what’s happening at Patriot Place today:

6:30 p.m. - Mayflower Brewing Co Beer Dinner at CBS Scene: Reserve your seat for this special event as CBS Scene’s Executive Chef Peter Tariela has carefully crafted a six-course menu with six Mayflower Brewing Co. pairings.

5. Doolittle Home Enjoys Successful Open House

The Doolittle Home open house event was a huge success. Fragrant flowers adorned the home as guests arrived on Sunday, May 19th to take a tour and find out more information about Doolittle Home’s retirement living options. Refreshments were served, including Doolittle Home’s  “Foxboro Famous” homemade cookie treats and live entertainment filled the home with classical music.

“We welcomed new trustees who helped to give tours and interact with visitors, while staff members answered questions,” Doolittle Home said in a statement on Patch. “Door prizes were awarded to three lucky seniors.”
