5 Things: Election Day, Jake n JOES Fundraiser for One Fund Boston & More

1. Expect a Mostly Sunny Tuesday with a High Near 68 in Foxborough

Today’s weather in Foxborough, according to the National Weather Service based in Taunton, calls for mostly sunny, with a high near 68. Calm wind becoming east 5 to 8 mph in the afternoon. Tuesday night: Clear, with a low around 38. Northeast wind 3 to 7 mph.

2. It’s Election Day in Foxborough

On Tuesday, with two contested races – Board of Selectmen and School Committee – in the annual town election and a special state primary for U.S. Senate, voter turnout is expected to fall somewhere above the 17 percent in 2011 and below the 58 percent in 2012. . Selectmen James DeVellis and Lynda Walsh recused themselves from that vote because both are running for re-election Tuesday.

3. Jake n JOES to Host Dinner Fundraiser to Support Marathon Victims

Jake n JOES Sports Grille, with locations in Norwood and Foxborough, will be hosting a fundraiser event on Tuesday, April 30th for The One Fund Boston, established to help the victims of the Boston Marathon bombings.

Stop by Jake n JOES Tuesday for lunch, dinner or take-out and 20 percent of all sales will be donated to The One Fund Boston. For more information on this cause, click here.

Spring Fling Wine Festival at Tastings: Join Tastings as representatives from five wine distributors or importers pour between 4 to 6 of their most interesting wines from their portfolios.

5. Foxboro Rotary Scholarship Applications are Available

The Foxboro Rotary Club is offering scholarships designed to help motivated Foxborough residents improve their well being through directed post secondary education study. Any resident or person affiliated with the Foxborough community demonstrating the ideals of Rotary and with financial need is eligible for a Rotary Scholarship Grant for any approved course of study. 

An approved Course of Study may include, two and four-year college, post High School Vocational programs or a non-traditional course of study.

Applications and additional information can be downloaded from www.FoxboroRotary.org.  Completed applications are due by May 25th and can be either mailed to the Foxboro Rotary Club, PO Box 321, Foxboro, MA or preferably emailed to  Scholarship@foxbororotary.org.
