4 Foxborough Runners Cross Boston Marathon Finish Line Prior to Explosion

Andrea Ambs was the last Foxborough resident to cross the finish line Monday, arriving in Copley Square roughly 20 seconds (2:49:40 p.m.) before the first explosion at 2:50 p.m.

Tragedy marred the 117th Boston Marathon as two explosions near the marathon’s finish line at Copley Square killed at least three people and injured over 140 more.

Just prior to the horrific scene, four Foxborough residents running in this year’s marathon crossed the finish line, according to the Boston Athletic Association.

John Hage was the first Foxborough resident to cross the finish line, arriving in Copley Square at 2:28 p.m. Hage finished with an unofficial net time of 03:44:35 to place 12,512. Marvin Wolfert was next to cross the finish line, recording an unofficial net time of 03:56:02 to place 15,232.

Dale Stephanos followed Wolfert, crossing the finish line at 2:41 p.m. with an unofficial net time of 3:58:19 to place 15,731. Stephanos’ wife, Maria and their two children were on hand to watch him finish the marathon. Shortly after Dale finished, the first of two explosions occurred.

Andrea Ambs was the last Foxborough resident to cross the finish line, arriving in Copley Square roughly 20 seconds (2:49:40 p.m.) before the first explosion at 2:50 p.m. Ambs finished the marathon in 16,796 place with an unofficial net of time of 4:05:21.

Of Foxborough’s 11 residents running the marathon, six made it to the 40K checkpoint in Kenmore Square before they were informed the race had been suspended due to the explosions at Copley Square.

Alyssa Solomon, Morgan Steacy, Mark Briggs, Elana Dekkers, Allison Page and Christine Miskinis ended the marathon near the Kenmore Square checkpoint while Philip Roberson finished at the 25K checkpoint in Wellesley.
