Throughout the summer children lose or forget information that they have gained during the school year. It is known as the "summer slide" or "brain drain". When student start back up again in the fall it takes up to several weeks for them to get back in the habit of learning. What if they never stopped learning?

It is true that summers should be a well deserved break for our children who are stressed with hours of homework every night, MCAS testing, and jammed packed schedules. So summer should be a time for fun and summer classes can be fun!

Art camps or art classes are a great way to keep brains stimulated and kids entertained. It is relaxing and creative while also being a challenge that will make students really think. Knowledge in art and being creative is shown to help students in all areas of education. Art is essential to overall learning.

So if you think that your children could suffer from this ailment during the summer try an art class, theater class, music class, or science camp.
