What's the Most Expensive Bottle of Wine at Tastings?

Tastings General Manager Scott Pinocci tell us there's a $600 bottle of wine at the Patriot Place restaurant.

Tastings Wine Bar and Bistro at Patriot Place offers an impressive selection of wines to customers near and far.

Here at Patch, we got to thinking, what is the most expensive bottle of wine at the restaurant. So we asked General Manager Scott Pinocci and he told us it's the Penfolds Grange.

“It’s really just the ultimate quality,” he said. “It’s been made for about 50 years in Australia. It has a perfect balance of acid, fruit and tannins.”

Tannins refers to the diverse group of chemical compounds in wine that can affect the color, aging ability and texture of the wine. While tannins cannot be smelled or tasted, they can be perceived during wine tasting by the tactile drying sensation and sense of bitterness that they can leave in the mouth.

The wine price varies by year, but Pinocci said it rounds out to about $600 a bottle.
