Rhode Island Group to Propose Foxfield Plaza Redevelopment

The aging Foxfield Plaza may have a new chance for redevelopment.

Tonight, the Carpionato Group, a developer in Johnston R.I. is expected to make an informal presentation to the planning board tonight at 7:30 pm. at town hall.

The two-phase, 11 acre project would be known as "Shoppes at Robinson Brook," according to the Sun Chronicle.

According to the plans, Foxfield would be completely torn down. In phase I of the project, four buildings would be constructed consisting of shops, restaurants and a supermarket.

In 2011, Big Y announced plans to come to the plaza but backed out after the developer was required to pay for improvements to the intersection.

Recently, town planner Sharon Wason filled out paperwork for a MassWorks grant that would pay for the improvements if the grant is approved. The selectmen voted on Tuesday to accept the grant if awarded to Foxborough.
