Patriot Place GM Thrilled to Bring Capriotti's Sandwich Shop to New England

Representatives of Capriotti's Sandwich Shop has applied for a new common victuallers license with the town, which will be reviewed by the Board of Selectmen at Tuesday's meeting.

On Tuesday, Foxborough's Board of Selectmen will review the application for a new common victuallers license for Capriotti's Sandwich Shop at Patriot Place.

The sandwich shop, famously known for its signature "Bobbie" subs, is excited to bring its award-winning hand-crafted sandwiches and unique menu items to 282 Patriot Pl. by the end of 2012.

That excitement, according to Patriot Place General Manager Brian Earley, is mutual.

"We could not be happier to have successful national brands like Capriotti’s looking at Patriot Place as their entre into the [New England] market," Earley said. "We have a number of similar launches with tenants new to the market and all have done very well. Also, this particular use, fresh made sandwiches, will be a great addition to our quick serve restaurant lineup."

Capriotti's owner, Lois Margolet, grew up in Wilmington, Del. – the site of the first Capriotti’s Sandwich Shop – and always dreamed of having her own sandwich shop but knew she needed something unique to stand out from the rest.

In 1976, she discovered it.

"Lois and her brother Alan, opened a sandwich shop named after their grandfather, Philip Capriotti, who loved to cook for them," according to a press release issued by Patriot Place. "Their original concept was to capture the hearts of 'real turkey lovers.' Lois and Alan would roast 10 to 12 whole fresh turkeys every night to ensure every bit was fresh, juicy and flavorful. For 36 years, Capriotti’s has been slow-roasting whole, all natural Butterball turkeys and premium roast beef in-house daily to make their award-winning subs."

Earley said Capriotti's wanted to bring its sandwich shop concept to New England and targeted Patriot Place "as a great location for launching the brand regionally."

"We like new concepts or 'first in the market' that we know will be very strong performers," Earley said. "We have seen a number of successful firsts at Patriot Place and we see Capriotti’s as another fantastic offering to add to that list."

Earley says there's a need for a shop like Capriotti's at Patriot Place because it caters to patrons looking for "high-quality, quick serve lunch and dining options, especially in the fresh-made sandwiches and salads category."

"We feel strongly that Capriotti’s will be a unique and attractive lunch option both for the local business community and for families and other Patriot Place visitors who are looking for a great sandwich or salad made to order quickly," Earley said.

Capriotti's "Bobbie" is made with turkey pulled right off the bone, cranberry sauce, homemade stuffing, and a touch of mayo and has been voted “Greatest Sandwich in America” by thousands of AOL readers, according to a press release.

Other Capriotti’s favorites include the Capastrami®, made with hot pastrami, Swiss cheese, coleslaw and Russian dressing and the mouthwatering Delaware-style Cheese Steak. Capriotti’s also offers a variety of meatless subs like the Veggie Cole Turkey and Vegetarian Cheese Steak, as well as an assortment of hand-tossed salads prepared fresh for hungry fans and convenient catering options, including their popular party trays, box lunches and hot meatball bar.

While an opening date has been announced, Earley said Capriotti's is hopeful to be up and running by the end of 2012.

"They are trying very hard to be open before the end of the holiday season," Earley said.

According to Capriotti's new common victuallers license application the premises for the new sub shop is not yet completed but it is equipped with fixtures and supplied with necessary implements and facilities to conduct the business.

Capriotti's business partners, Olson Restaurant Group Foxboro, LLC has reported it has obtained a building permit and is in the process of obtaining a food service permit. It has not yet obtained an occupancy permit.
