NFL Considers Allowing Casino Ads at Stadiums

Gillette Stadium could be getting ads for casinos on signs at their stadiums if the NFL gives its approval.

If even the casino doesn't get built in Foxborough, you could see ads for them at Gillette Stadium in the near future.

According to an articles in the Sports Business Journal and the Boston Herald, the National Football League is considering allowing teams to have ads for the casinos in their stadiums.

“The (New England) Patriots could take in $4 million, $5 million — even $6 million-plus per year (under the proposed rules),” expert Marc Ganis was quoted as saying in the Boston Herald.

Casinos with sports betting wouldn't be allowed to have their ads in the stadium. TV ads would still be banned.

The NFL says it is still considering the plan.

“This is something that was raised at (last week’s) league meetings as a potential new revenue source,” NFL spokeman Brian McCarthy said, confirming a story first reported by the Sports Business Journal.

“No determination has been made, but we’ve taken a hard look at what other sports are doing,” he said.
