Kelsey's Kloset in Foxborough Making Dreams Come True for Children

Terri Manty opened Kelsey's Kloset Consignment and Boutique in December and she said it’s been a dream come true.

Manty said she worked at the Mustard Seeds Antique store in the same location as her consignment store for about three years and had always wanted to operate a children-oriented business.

“I had always wanted to bring in children’s gifts and gadgets, and it didn’t fit [with Mustard Seeds],” she said. “When we decided that we were closing the doors [of Mustard Seeds] I decided to give it a go.”

Manty said that, in her new space, she had to do a good deal of remodeling to get it "just right." The store sells new and consigned goods for children, which includes toys and clothing. She said that her experience with her children and now her grandchildren had an impact in what she buys for the store.

“I’ve always liked all the little frills and gifts and that kind of thing,” she said.

Manty said that getting the store just right in look as well as wares did not come easy.

“I am very picky of what I accept,” she said.

She said she goes through each item someone brings her to sell on consignment basis very carefully.

“No stains, no rips, no buttons missing or anything and I’ll take it and I’ll hold it for 90 days,” she said. “I’ve brought a lot of stuff here too.”

The appearance of the store is also very important to her. She said items that are on for consignment, especially cloths, can be somewhat iffy. She said her store keeps them in good condition.

“The shop smells good, looks good and you don’t have to dig through to find what you want,” she said.

Manty said that so far, her shop has done well with the town of Foxborough and will look to expand if the business continues.

“I’ve had a really good response from the community,” she said.
