Health Inspections: Omega Pizza, Tavolino, Mai Pearl, and More

July 23: Dollar Tree

Inspector Diane Passafaro found no major violations but made the following notes:

  • Recommended non-digital thermometers in walk-in’s (has them on floor units).
  • Discussed delivery procedures and deliveries during business hours.
  • Temperature on all units reading within code.
  • Aware of food segregation, ensure that food is coming from reputable source.
  • Discussed power outage procedures.
  • Has stem thermometers to check trucks/food products.
  • Clean shelves prior to product being put in.
  • Watch chemical/food container separation.
  • Monitor expiration dates.

July 24: Funway

Pauline Clifforo’s inspection showed that there were no major violation and the outdoor part of the concession stand was given approval to open.

  

July 24: Hockomock YMCA/Daycare

Diane Passafaro’s inspection came up with no major violations but the following notes were made:

  • Place directions/fill line for how to wash three-bay sink.
  • Stem thermometer needed to ensure all potentially hazardous food is at 41 degrees or below.
  • There were no violations in the day care but the refrigeration needs cleaning.

 

Mai Peal: July 25

All violations from a July 10 inspection were corrected.

 

July 24: Omega Pizza

No major violations were found during the inspection but Diane Passafaor and Kevin Diquette did make the following notes:

  • Label and date food in containers (corrected).
  • Knife located between countertops, do not store in between equipment.
  • Thermometer reading 43 degrees in 1 door cooler, monitor.
  • Two dated cans of olives (corrected).
  • Light shield needed for light food prep area.
  • Segregate employee drinks (corrected).
  • Water damage noted near a fan on a few ceiling tiles, repair/replace.
  • Wall holding clean utensils not clean to sight/tough, maintain clean.
  • If using drying rack, replace, rusted.

 

July 23: Twenty8 Food and Spirits

One major violation was found during Diane Passafaro’s inspection. Slicers were not clean to sight. Food debris was noted on the handle, slicers, and other areas. The violation was corrected and the restaurant was advised to keep the slicers clean

The following notes were made:

  • Walk-in cooler on the high side (39 degrees), monitor closely.

 In the bar area:

  • Rinse (high temp) on dishwashers not operating. Send all glassware through main kitchen until fixed.
  • Send board of health proof that sealant used at sink containing previous garbage disposal is food grade.

In the Hotel:

  • Floor 5 ice machine in hotel is building up mold/mildew on white discharge area. Clean, check all machines.
  • Hotel Market is ok

In the Lounge:

  • Hand washing sink not operating, no activity occurring.
  • Minimal food service occurring at location. Valves turned off, turned on during inspection. Work being done on sink, forgot to turn on.

Spa:

  • Was noted to be ok.
  • Runs pitchers through kitchen dishwasher at the end of the day.

 

July 23: Tavolino Restaurant

No major violations were found but Diane Passafaro did make the following notes:

  • In-use utensils stored in standing water, do not store in standing water/sanitizers.
  • Sandwich line units, many food containers not covered, keep covered.
  • Do not overstock containers in sandwich line units.
  • Wooden pizza paddles not 6” off ground, corrected at inspection.
  • Storage area holding clean equipment not clean to sight/touch.
  • Pool of liquid near soda boxes in upstairs storage area.
  • Keep sanitizer buckets away from food.
  • Clean drinking glasses in close proximity of hand-washing sink, possibles splash contamination, relocate.
  • No test strips available at dishwasher at bar.
  • Food debris noted in hand washing sink, ensure no food prep is occurring.
  • Label hand-washing sinks “hand-washing sink only” in large lettering.
