Health Inspection: Primo's Sandwich Shop, Camp Denied Pool Permit, and More

Update: An earlier version of this story incorrectly stated the temperature of a freezer at Primo's Sandwich Shop. The temperature given refered to the internal temperature of the roast beef and not the freezer it was stored it which was operating in normal parameters.

During Diane Passafaro’s inspection of the sub shop, one violation was found related to foodborne illnesses interventions and risk factors.

A whole roast beef was found cooling in a cooler. The roast beef was placed in the cooler at 9:30 p.m. the previous night. At 11:30 a.m. on the day of the inspection, the internal temperature of the beef was 61 degrees.

The beef was thrown out and the shop was asked to review proper cooling methods as provided in the health code.

Passafaro also requested that the three bay sinks be labeled.

Tastings, 201 Patriot Place: 

No major violations were found but Diane Passafaro’s did find some minor issues including a glass cleaner next to ice soap that was moved.

The sink area was reassembled so that the dump sink is now next to the hand sink. This was done to avoid potential contamination with with open drink containers.

Other issues discovered included:

  • A french fry bucket was found on the cooler floor and corrected.
  • Food preppers were found to not have hair restraints.
  • The dishwasher temperatures were found to be unable to reach 120 degrees. Food service will be called if the washer is unable to get above 120 degrees after multiple attempts.

Oak Hill Country Day Camp Inc., 46 Oak Street:

A permit for the pool area was denied during an inspection. The following is required:

  • Need to secure ladders in pool number three.
  • Need analytical reports within parameters.
  • Restrooms needs soap, toilette paper, and general cleaning.
  • Liner repair is needed for pool number two.
  • A first aid kit is needed.
