Planning Board Approves Site Plan for Bradlees’ Space at Foxborough Plaza

The proposal to relocate Ocean State Job Lot into the former Bradlees space and bring Chic2Chic into Foxborough Plaza has been given the OK by the town’s Planning Board after it reviewed and approved the project’s site plan.

In addition to Ocean State Job Lot moving into the vacant Bradlees space and Chic2Chic moving from 34 School St. to the current Job Lot space, Daniel Fuchs, vice president for construction & development of WP Realty of Bryn Mawr Associates said the parking lot will be repaired.

Work proposed is the removal of some 31,000 square feet of existing pavement, the removal of and repair of the abandoned septic system and then repaving. The overall elevation will be lowered by a foot or so and a light will be slightly relocated. Subsequent to parking lot repairs, the entire lot will be crack-sealed, sealed and re-striped.

WALPOLE

Walpole’s Ginjo Restaurant has Made Most Out of Bad Situation

Ginjo in Walpole started off small, but manager Eddie Wong said a car accident gave them an opportunity to expand the hibachi lounge, sushi bar and restaurant.

“We used to be the Blue Orchid before the car accident,” he said. “This car just came through the building.”

Wong said at the time, the crash occurred where a UPS store was. He said sushi chef Paul Ni was the only one in the restaurant when it happened.

“It was lucky it was early in the morning,” Wong said. “It was an elderly lady, and apparently she thought she was pressing the brake when she was pressing on the gas.”

Wong said David Ng, who owns two other restaurants in the area, owns the restaurant.  Wong said after the accident, Ng was able to expand.

“We took over the UPS store,” he said. “We expanded and were able to bring in Hibachi and expanded the sushi bar.”

Dedham Farmer's Market Receives Grant to Help Kick Off Its Sixth Season

Thanks to a grant from the Dedham Institution for Savings Foundation, the Dedham Farmer’s Market will be able to kick-off its sixth season on June 19.

The grant was awarded to the Dedham Square Circle, the non-profit that currently manages the Market.  The market features six local farms, a greenhouse and ten specialty food vendors.  

This year the Market will be held on the green in front of the First Church of Dedham.

Cumberland Farms has named Big Brothers Big Sisters of Massachusetts Bay as the beneficiary of a month-long fundraiser to support the organization’s mission to nurture children and strengthen communities.

For four weeks, beginning Wednesday, June 5, Cumberland Farms will donate 20 cents from every Chill Zone beverage, brewed tea, and coffee (iced or hot) purchased at its store at 1128 Oakhill Ave in Attleboro, MA directly to Big Brothers Big Sisters. Cumberland Farms aims to raise at least $1,000 for the organization. This minimum will be put towards the organization’s “match” recruitment program which works to spread the word and through that, participation, in the BBBS program.
