Despite Power Outage, Energy New England Keeps the Power Flowing

Businesses and employees in Foxborough found creative ways to work through power outages cause by Tropical Storm Irene.

Power outages in Foxborough and communities throughout New England, caused by Tropical Storm Irene in late August, significantly impacted the daily routine of businesses, restaurants and residents.

Energy New England (ENE), LLC, a energy cooperative based in Foxborough, is just one of many businesses in town that is back to normal this week after 4 days of an extended power outage as a result of Tropical Storm Irene.

“Although we are in the business of providing power supply to municipal systems and other clients throughout New England, New York and Pennsylvania, we too are vulnerable to power outages when our local provider goes down”, said Tzimorangas. “I could not be more proud at the way our employees embraced the situation and continued to provide uninterruptable service to customers."

Tzimorangas noted that employees loaded information onto their laptops and searched out internet cafe's to complete the necessary daily process. Portable generators were used to power company servers and complete transactions without disruption to their customers.

Board of Director and Braintree Municipal Light General Manager Bill Bottiggi commented, “I am not surprised that ENE would find a way to be innovative and continue to provide excellent services to its customers who rely on them, as do the customers of the public power utilities that ENE supports."

ENE was Formed in 1998 and is a leading provider of both supply and demand side services to the public power community. The company works with more than 35 municipal systems on a dedicated basis in the provision of one or more supply or demand-side services.
