Davio’s restaurant will be representing the Boston area at a major NFL fundraising event to be held Super Bowl weekend in Brooklyn.
In a recent phone conversation with Patch, former Lynnfield resident and area businessman/chef Steve DeFillippo reported that for the third time, Davio’s will participate at the Taste of the NFL event, held Super Bowl weekend as a way to raise money for food pantries in each of the league’s cities.
DeFillippo added that a restaurant from each of the NFL markets provides a dish to the event, and that with Davio’s, he would helping to bring some money home to the Boston Food Bank.
For this particular event, DeFillippo plans to serve the Gnocchi Bolognese from Davios, which he said is a particular popular dish at large events – and which he noted will also go well with the colder weather that would be expected in the New York area for Super Bowl weekend. In previous years, Davios participated at Taste of the NFL events in New Orleans and Indianapolis, added DeFillippo.
Several thousand people are expected to attend this year’s event at the Brooklyn Cruise Terminal, added DeFillippo. More about him can be seen on this link on the Taste of the NFL website.
Closer to home, DeFillippo, who is now a Wenham resident, has been busy on a number of fronts. His recently opened MarketStreet Lynnfield location in his former hometown is one of seven restaurants in four states (locations include Philadelphia, Manhattan and Atlanta), he noted. DeFillippo published his first book, “It’s All About The Guest: Exceeding Expectations in Business and in Life,” last fall, and more recently, he’s also beenselling a line of Davio’s frozen spring rolls to a national audience via the QVC channel.
