You could stand on a corner and look around until a restaurant sign draws you in. But we've got a better idea. Each week, Foxborough Patch picks a great restaurant either in town or nearby that is worth checking out.
Here's this week's choice:
Overview: is known for its upscale Northern Italian cuisine, serving everything "from aged steaks to simple-yet-unique pasta creations." Davio's recently added a prix-fixe menu to Monday nights. For $28, diners will be served a 3-course meal, starting with an appetizer and ending with one of their gourmet desserts. Simple traditional Italian fare with a focus on the grill is the name of the game here, and most people come for their top-notch service and cuisine.
Decor: Trendy city dining decor helps to set the mood at Davio's. Whether you are looking for a quiet table for 2 or a large booth for a group, Davio's has a table to please any party size. Over-sized wine glasses that shine against tiny tea lights set off a relaxed atmosphere. Davio's features an open kitchen, which allows diners to peak in on what the chefs are cooking up. Italian scents fill the air, instantly relaxing diners as they settle in for their meal. The relaxed and trendy atmosphere allows Davio's to be more than a lunch and dinner destination. Davio's is an experience that thrills the taste buds and delights the eye.
The Drinks: Don't arrive to Davio's thirsty, thirsty for wine that is. Davio's offers an extensive wine list. Whether you prefer white or red, pino or merlot, Davio's will have it. Not sure which wine goes best with your meal? Servers will help to recommend which wine pairs best with your favorite dish. A variety of beers and cocktails land the bar list, though the bartender says he makes more martinis at his bar.
Appetizers: Davio's most famous appetizer is one that you would not expect in a northern Italian restaurant. A variety of gourmet and handmade spring rolls light up the menu. Chicken parm, Philly cheese steak, and Shrimp cotija are just a few of their spring roll offerings. Kobe meatballs, fired clams, and pan seared halloumi cheese also delight the appetizer portion of your meal. All entrees are served with warm, crispy bread and dipping oils.
Entrees: Davio's offers a wide variety of entrees from simple Angel hair with Fresh Basil and San Marzano Tomatoes ($15) to Pan-Roasted Maine Lobster, Whipped Potatoes, Haricot Vert with a Lemon Tarragon Sauce. The Tapenade Crusted Cod Loin, offers a large piece of cod loin on top of a bed of toasted and buttery orzo with a herb vinaigrette ($26). Diners can also choose from their "a la carte" menu of steaks and fish. Choose from a top sirloin ($25) or sesame crusted tuna ($28), cooked to how you like with a side and sauce of your choice. Marconi and cheese with white truffle oil ($8), although not an obvious choice for a side dish, is one of the best. Other entrees include Free-Range Statler Chicken ($21), Sautéed Veal Medallions ($27) and Tagliatelle Bolognese ($20).
Sides: Dishes range from gorgonzola mashed potatoes ($7), goat cheese potato croquettes ($9) and mushroom risotto ($8).
Desserts: If you are left to full for dessert, that feeling will soon disappear when the server brings around the dessert cart. The server shows off each dessert offered to diners. Ricotta filled pastries with fresh fruit and warm chocolate cake with a molten fudge are some of the best.
Service: Servers quickly transform to personal concierges once you are seated. Meals, drinks and bread are served on time and to your liking.
