Younger Crowd Expected for One Direction Shows at Gillette Stadium

In a stadium where screaming and cheering for the Patriots is a regular occurrence, two concerts in August will bring a differing type of cheering to Foxboro, specifically a high pitch one.

While presenting the application for One Direction's Gillette Stadium shows to the selectmen, Kraft Group representative Jess Stevenson said they expect a younger demographic than last year’s Taylor Swift shows with plenty of parents and guardians in the crowd. Like the Swift shows, a pickup location will be utilized.

The shows, scheduled for a Thursday and Friday night, are both sold out with 50,000 attendees and many first time visitors to the stadium expected at both shows.

To help alleviate the traffic, Stevenson said the stadium is looking into having trains provide transportation to the stadium for the shows.

As is normal, North Street will not be open for general access and Putnam Parkway will be open for only pass holder and public safety vehicles.
