Sage School Students Take Orpheum Theatre 'Under the Sea' in Performance of 'The Little Mermaid Jr.'

Sage School students in grades 5-8 performed "The Little Mermaid Jr." at the Orpheum Theatre on May 24th.

Thirty Sage School students took the Orpheum Theatre stage on May 24th to perform The Little Mermaid Jr., presented by The Sage School Theater Company.

The students are members of the school's Afterschool Theater program, which is designed for students who are interested in studying theater more in depth under the guidance of arts department chair and performing arts teacher, Danielle Bazinet and Sage School alum, Christian Pirnie.

Students auditioned for speaking and singing roles while many others participated as members of the chorus and set crew. The crew created sets and props for the show.

“This [was] an exciting opportunity for our students to participate in a full scale musical at the middle school level,” Bazinet said. “Having the opportunity to work with the Orpheum Theatre is a wonderful introduction for them that may lead to future performing opportunities in secondary school and community-theater.”
