Reminder: American Idol Auditions Set for Friday at Gillette Stadium, Registration on Thursday

Will Foxborough or one of the surrounding towns in the area produce the next American Idol? The search for America's next pop star makes it's way to Gillette Stadium this week when thousands will show off their ability to sing very well or very poorly.

A contestant from the area is not unprecedented. In 2005, Wrentham's Ayla Brown made it past the auditions at Gillette Stadium and advanced to the semi-final round during the show's fifth season in 2006.

Registration for the open auditions will be held in the Putnam Club on the west side of the stadium starting at 5 a.m. on Aug. 1 and will remain open until 8 a.m. on Aug 2. Sign-ups will be open around the clock and will not close until Aug. 2

After registering, participants will be given a wristband and a seating ticket that assigns their place in line for auditions. Anyone who loses their wristband or seat ticket can get a new one but will be placed at the end of the line. There are no exceptions to this rule.

Contestants will be allowed to start lining up for auditions at 5 a.m. on Aug 2. No overnight camping will be allowed. Parking will be $20.

At approx. 8 a.m., auditions will begin inside the stadium. Once inside, singers can bring one friend or family member with them but no one else. The extra person however, must also pick up a wristband and a seat ticket with the person they are accompanying.

The auditions are open for singers aged 15-28. Those under 18 will need to be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
