Those voices are one of the reasons, Denzil Foster and Thomas McElroy, music producers and former members of 'Club Nouveau', assembled 'En Vogue' in July of 1989 because they had wanted a vocal group that could exude intelligence, sultriness and vocal proficiency. The group was based out of Oakland, California and has won seven MTV Music Awards, the most for any female group in history, four Soul Train Awards, six American Music Awards and seven Grammy Nominations.

Billboard Magazine lists 'En Vogue' as the 18th most successful act in the 1990's accumulating over 2,800 weeks on the various Billboard charts.

Some of their many hits include, ' Hold On' from their first album, 'Born to Sing', 'Lies', 'You Don't Have to Worry' and ' Don't Go'.

In the spring of 1992 came their second album, ' Funky Divas' which brought them many more hits, 'My Lovin (You're Never Gonna Get It)', ' Giving Him Something He Can Feel', ' Free Your Mind' which earned three MTV Music Awards, 'Give it Up Turn it Loose' and 'Love Don't Love You'.

Next came a six song LP ' Runaway Love' in the fall of 1993 and with this came endorsements for 'Converse',  the featured opening act for 'Luther Vandross' 1993 Tour,  television appearances on  'Living Color', 'A Different World', 'Roc' and 'Hangin With Mr. Cooper' in which they also sang the show's theme song.

Do you remember  the film 'Batman Forever'? 'En Vogue' even had a cameo appearance as four prostitutes who try and seduce Batman.

Their biggest hit single to date is 'Don't Let Go (Love)' for the Motion Picture Soundtrack 'Set it Off'.  Shortly after this film, Robinson left the group and they became 'EV3' with moderate success. But in 1995 Robinson rejoined the group and they were soon nominated for another Grammy for 'So What the Fuss'.

With all the changes over the years with members departing and coming back, 'En Vogue' is back to their original line up and will be at Showcase Live on May 19, 2011.
