Foxborough Fire Chief Roger Hatfield says an elderly woman at 232 Mechanic St. was sent to the hospital for "precautionary reasons" after lightning struck behind her home Friday, causing severe exterior damage to the property.

Eddie Wu, owner of Mai Pearl at 121 Main St., Foxborough, told the Board of Health at Monday's meeting the reason for seven critical food code violations at his establishment could be explained in one word.

"Lazy," he said.

Wu said his staff had become lazy at Mai Pearl, which led to critical violations in food protection management, food being served from an approved source and food protection from contamination being found during a July 18th inspection by Sanitarian Diane Passafaro. Other violations were related to not keeping up with HACCP logs.

Two Foxborough men were arrested and each charged with OUI liquor during a weekend Sobriety Checkpoint on Route 1 South in Walpole this past weekend, according to Massachusetts State Police.

Foxborough Town Manager says "don't hold your breath" when it comes to the town receiving reimbursement from Attorney General Martha Coakley's recommended fine of $16 million against National Grid for "inadequate response" to two major storms last year.

The Foxborough Board of Selectmen appointed a new public advisory committee at Tuesday’s meeting to explore future business opportunities with The Kraft Group that are mutually beneficial for the town and The Kraft organization.

The advisory committee, operating under the current name “Kraft Organization/Business Opportunities Discussion Group,” has already begun meeting – most recently last Friday – and on Tuesday, the Board of Selectmen officially appointed four members to the committee.

Those members are Kevin Weinfeld, chairman of the Planning Board, Bill Euerle, chairman of the Board of Water & Sewer Commissioners, Lynda Walsh, member of the Board of Selectmen and Dave Brown, a Foxborough resident.

The Foxborough Board of Selectmen agreed to transfer the all-alcohol restaurant license for Christina's Fireside Grille from MJ Holding Corporation to D&N Corporations DBA on three conditions:

  1. All police detail bills paid up to date
  2. All town attorney fees as a result of public hearing paid for
  3. D&N Corporation be held liable for all function/event deposits Christina’s has and is presented with to date

Christina’s landlord Nicholas Panagopoulos, of D&N Corporations, agreed to those conditions and gave the town of Foxborough a check for $9,376.40 – the full amount owed in police details required for previous events at Christina's – at Tuesday’s Board of Selectmen meeting.

Well yes, but mostly because of a new report from AccuWeather.com that expects more snow this winter as a result of a weak to moderate El Niño.

Those attending events at Gillette Stadium this month will notice new looks and menus at the concession stands around the facility.

Beginning in August, the stadium's 38 revamped and rebranded permanent concessions stands will be introducing new menu items and additional healthy options.
