Cupcake Charlie’s Coming to Foxborough in 2013
Less than two weeks after an award-winning sandwich shop opened at Patriot Place's North Marketplace the Foxborough shopping, dining and entertainment complex has announced plans to add an award-winning cupcake bakery in 2013.

Cupcake Charlie's, an award-winning gourmet cupcake bakery, offers sweet treats in an inviting and fun atmosphere. While details of the opening date are still being finalized, Patriot Place expects the bakery to open in the North Marketplace some time in 2013.

Patriots Longest Tenured Employee Dies
The New England Patriots were in mourning Tuesday after learning that Don Brocher, the team’s equipment manager and longest tenured employee in franchise history, lost his season-long battle against leukemia early Tuesday morning.
The 2012 season was his 41st with the Patriots. On Nov. 23, 2012 he celebrated his 60th birthday.

Patriots to Hold Memorial Service for Equipment Manager Don Brocher on Jan. 5
For 41 years, Don Brocher traveled to Foxborough ready for work and to help others.
It was that selfless attitude and the love for his job with the New England Patriots that left a lasting impression on many within the organization, including Patriots head coach Bill Belichick.
“He was never one to complain, never one to talk about how he was doing, he was just there to help the rest of us,” Belichick said during Wednesday’s press conference. “We’ll miss him.”
Brocher lost his battle to Leukemia early Tuesday morning, passing away peacefully at Massachusetts General Hospital with his loving wife Laurie, family and friends by his side. He was 60 years old.
A memorial service for Brocher was held in the East Putnam Club at Gillette Stadium on Saturday, Jan. 5. Doors open at 10:30 a.m.

FRCS Warns Parents Not to Drop Off/Pick Up Children Along Route 140
Citing an ongoing issue with parents dropping off and/or picking up students along Route 140, Foxborough Regional Charter School has issued the following warning:
“Do not drop your children off or pick them up at the Mobil Station, across the street in the office complex or anywhere along Route 140,” the FRCS message read. “Not only is this a safety hazard for your children but the police have taken notice and will take action directly with families who continue to misuse private property.”

77 Percent Will Pay More In Taxes in 2013 Under Fiscal Cliff Deal
Despite the House and Senate reaching a Fiscal Cliff deal, 77 percent of Americans will pay more in taxes in 2013.
That's because even though just 1 percent of households will pay higher income taxes, an increase in federal payroll taxes will hit nearly every wage earner, according to analysis by the Tax Policy Center.
Individuals earning between $40,000 and $50,000 a year face an average tax increase of $579 in 2013, according to the Tax Policy Center's analysis.

Completion of Water Treatment Plant Could Reduce Brown Water in Foxborough by Summer 2013
As many residents continue to experience brown water throughout town there may be a remedy to the problem coming to the east side of town by early summer 2013.
Foxborough DPW Director Roger Hill recently told Foxborough Patch the $6.8 million water treatment plant off Oak Street is on target to be completed by early summer. Once online, the plant will remove iron and manganese from the water – the primary cause of brown water in town – and add chemicals to reduce the corrosive acidity of the water.
“That [plant is] under construction right now,” Hill said. … “All the masonry work is done at the plant. Some of the roof is on.”

A True Patriot: Foxborough Native Named Patriots Fan of the Year
Forty years ago, U.S. Air Force master sergeant Kevin John Kelley was born a New England Patriots fan and grew up in Foxborough rooting for the home team.
On Sunday, the Patriots rewarded Kelley for his lifelong devotion to the team by naming him the 2012 Fan of the Year prior to its game with the Miami Dolphins at Gillette Stadium.
