The snowstorm headed toward New England will likely make travel treacherous on Thursday, with snow falling in the morning and possible freezing rain hitting the roads by the evening commute.
The National Weather Service is predicting 5-9 inches of snow for much of the state falling by sunset, with more falling in some areas.
Snow should begin Thursday morning and change over to sleet and freezing rain on Thursday afternoon and evening. Winds will be 10 to 15 mph with gusts up to 30 mph so power outages are possible.
After nightfall, snow and sleet accumulations could reach one or two inches. Rain, freezing rain, and sleet are predicted to hit the state until around 3 a.m.
