The Learning Experience Throws Successful Toys For Tots Drive

Organizers said over 200 toys were donated.

The Learning Experience in Foxborough just finished its first tremendously successful year of accepting donations for the popular children’s charity Toys for Tots.

For the past two weeks, “People are dropping off toys and there are lots of them,” said the child development center’s Business Manager Amy LaBrache, then added, “We have received well over 200 toys.”

LaBrache said they were searching for something to do in the community and after researching it saw there weren’t a lot of drop off places in the area for Toy for Tots.

She said one family brought in over 40 toys. LaBrache added that teachers from the Burrell School in Foxborough celebrated the holiday season by buying toys to donate instead of buying gifts for each other.

LaBranch said some of the older kids in at the center helped sort the bags of gift.

“It’s good for them to understand there are kids that are less fortunate,” said LaBrache.

It was so successful that they extended the toy drive through the weekend. They will be transporting the toys to Boston on Monday morning.

She added that the drive is definitely something they will be doing again and in the coming months they will be looking to do other events to promote community.

LaBrache said if anyone is interesting in finding out more about The Learning Experience, they will be having a couple of open houses in the coming months, the first being on January 28. At the open house there will be arts and crafts for the kids, the center’s mascot Bubbles the elephant and refreshments for parents.

On February 9, they are having a Child ID program at the center from 3 p.m. until 7p.m.  They will take finger prints and photos for the parents and to keep on file.  Photos and fingerprints will only be taken with permission of a parent or legal guardian.
