Segway Tours Give Adventurers Up-Close Look at Gillette Stadium

Patriot Place and Segway have teamed up to give riders a unique experience.

Hidden near the elevators next to the plaza by Gillette Stadium is the newest addition to Patriot Place. Opening in May, thanks to a partnership between Patriot Place and Segway, the Patriot Place Segway tours have allowed shoppers to experience the entertainment complex and Gillette Stadium in a new and exciting way.

“It’s building up quite a bit. We have more people walking in and taking tours,” said Segway Tour Manager Connie Gallant.

After a 30-minute tutorial that features a safety video and basic Segway lessons, the tour starts in the plaza in front of Gillette Stadium. Going around to the train stop and behind the stadium, the tour gives riders a chance to see areas outside the stadium that are not open to the public.

From behind the stadium, riders go by the back end of the Revolution’s practice field, the Patriots’ practice field, and the Dana Farber Field house. A break behind Bass Pro Shop gives riders a chance to see the Nature Walk and Cranberry Bogs. Unknown to many, the Bogs are maintained by Ocean Spray and are 3 years old.

After the stop at Bass Pro Shop, riders have a chance to play around in the parking lot to see what they can do on their Segway. This is the part of the tour where most people appreciate what a Segway can do.

“The response is usually, I need to buy one of these!” said Gallant.

The tour continues around the front of the Patriots’ practice fields and to the deck near Tastings Wine Bar & Bistro. The spot has proven to be popular for anyone who wants a photo of Gillette Stadium in the background.

After a loop around the North Marketplace and Showcase Cinema De Lux, the tour ends back at the plaza where it began.

Overall, the tour gives riders a chance to explore Patriot Place and even learn something new about Gillette Stadium and its surroundings.

Tours start at $69 for a two-hour experience but there are specials in place. Kids 14-17 can ride for free with a parent on Mondays and Fridays. Student, teachers, and veterans can get 20% off with their ID. Groups of four can also bring along a 5th friend for free.

Tours run 7 days a week from 10am to 6pm from Monday-Saturday and 10am-4pm on Sundays. Tours leave the plaza every two hours. Riders must be at least 14 to use a Segway.
