Reminder: 10K at Gillette Stadium Tonight, Expect Road Closures and Detours

Tonight, racing and fireworks returns to Foxborough as Gillette Stadium hosts the annual Harvard Pilgrim Finish at the 50 5K and 10K.

Due to the 10K, residents around Foxborough should expect some road closures and detours during the evening.

Parts of North Street, Young Road, and Edwards Road will be closed from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. to accommodate the runners. This year, only about 1.33 miles of the race will take place on public roads instead of the roughly four miles needed last year.

Foxborough police will be on the roads setting up detour routes and directing traffic during the hour needed for the race.

In addition, participants were screened this year to help cut down on slower paced runners and walkers.

The brand new course takes runners off of stadium property though the access road to North Street and then down to Young Road. Racers will then take a right on to Edwards road before turning around in front of 27 Edwards Road.

Taking the exact same path back to the home of the Patriots, the race will return to Patriot Place for the final two miles and will go inside Gillette Stadium before finishing at the 50 yard line.

Any runner or walker slower than a 15 minute mile pace may experience traffic on the public roads as they will not make it back to the stadium before the roads reopen.

Like last year, the 5K will remain at Patriot Place and Gillette Stadium. No public roads will be used.

After the race, there will be a fireworks display over Patriot Place at 9 p.m. to celebrate the Fourth of July. Dean College Radio 88.3 FM will broadcast the musical score for the fireworks.

For those racing, the 5K will start at 5:30 p.m. and the gun for the 10K will go off at 6:30 p.m. Number pickup is located by the ticket office and will be open from noon to 6 p.m.

While online registration is closed, interested runners can still signup at the fitness expo at Patriot Place. Registration is $40 for adults running the 5K and $50 for the 10K. Those 17 and under will pay $20 for the 5K and $30 for the 10K
