PHOTOS: A 'Spectacular' Ending to Winter Skate Season at Patriot Place

Proceeds from Sunday's "Finale on Ice" figure skating event at Patriot Place benefited the Hockomock Area YMCA's Reach Out for Youth initiative.

Winter Skate at Patriot Place presented by Harvard Pilgrim Health Care closed for the season this past Sunday but not without a spectacular finale.

Patriot Place hosted “Finale on Ice” at the outdoor skating rink Sunday evening, featuring 25 performances by 38 local competitive figure skaters, all with ties to the New England area.

Among the participants were Jade Esposito, a fifth-grader at Newton Country Day School, and Nathan Rensing, a freshman at Wachusett Regional High School, who together won the silver medal at the Eastern Sectionals in 2012 and placed seventh in the nation at the U.S. Figure Skating Championships in January 2013; Adrian Huertas, a sophomore at Noble and Greenough School in Dedham, who has medaled at the New England Regional Figure Skating Championships for the past six years; Jenna Rehab, a graduate student at Boston University who traveled with the Disney on Ice Dare to Dream tour this past year; U.S Figure Skating Gold Medalist Kyoko Yano, a student at the University of Rhode Island and CCRI; and The Ocean State Theatre on Ice team, the first and only theater on ice team in Rhode Island and the 2012 National Open Theatre on Ice Champion.
Henry Son, the national announcer for U.S Figure Skating, announced the show in front of an enthusiastic crowd. The show was directed by Ashley Brouillette with music by Creative Music Productions. The event was sanctioned by U.S Figure Skating and sponsored by the Pawtucket and Providence Figure Skating Club.

Moreover, all proceeds from the event benefited the Hockomock Area YMCA’s “Reach Out of Youth” initiative.

“Congrats to the amazing skaters who performed last night at Patriot Place,” The Hockomock Area YMCA said on its Facebook page. “Special thanks to our friends at Patriot Place for donating the event proceeds to the Y's 2013 Reach Out for Youth and Families Campaign.”
