Foxborough Veterans and community members commemorated local fallen soldiers in a ceremony on Foxborough Common.

"Today and everyday please remember in your thoughts and prayers each solider, sailor, airman and marine who made the ultimate sacrifice," echoed Foxborough's Veterans Service Officer Michael Johns during his Memorial Day dedication speech. "The greatest tribute we can offer to our honored dead is to wave the red, white and blue proudly."

Foxborough's annual Memorial Day parade and ceremony on the Common was organized by the Foxboro American Legion Post 93 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2626. Veterans, residents, Selectmen, Rep. Jay Barrows, Senator James Timilty, religious leaders, boy scouts, girls scouts and cub scouts all gathered Monday morning to recognize Foxborough's fallen soldiers.

Selectmen Chairman Larry Harrington and Rep. Jay Barrows offered prayers and well-wishes to Marine Lance Corporal Jerome Hanley of Foxborough. Hanley is currently recovering in Virgina from wounds suffered during an attack in Afghanistan on May 15.

Harrington also urged residents to drop off protein bars at Town Hall to send to troops overseas.
