After School Activities and Selectmen Meeting in Foxboro Canceled Due to Snow

With Foxboro expected to get four to eight inches of snow today, groups and organizations are now postponing or canceling events scheduled for this evening.

Foxboro Public Schools and Foxboro Regional Charter have canceled all after school activities and athletic contests scheduled to take place this afternoon and evening. 

Tonight's FHS boys' and girls' basketball games against Oliver Ames have been moved to Dec. 18, pushing tomorrow's scheduled wrestling match at the high school to Dec. 19. Indoor track at BU against Sharon has been moved to Jan. 3 at BU.

The Academy at Foxboro have also canceled their extended day classes.

The meeting of the Foxboro Board of Selectmen scheduled for tonight at the FHS media center at 7 p.m. has been moved to Dec. 30 at 5 p.m.

The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm warning for Norfolk County which will be in effect until 1 a.m. According to the NWS. snow is expected to intensify around 4 p.m. and continue until roughly 10 p.m. before diminishing.

Much of the accumulation will occur during this window but may fall in as little as three hours. Snowfall rates at or exceeding one-inch will be possible during the 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. timeframe.
