McGinty Family Fun Day Set for Sept. 8 on Foxboro Common

Proceeds raised from McGinty Family Fun Day will go towards the McGinty Scholarship Foundation, which is named in loving memory of Michael McGinty, who was killed during the attacks on Sept. 11, 2001.

Cindy McGinty and her family will return to Foxborough on Sept. 8 to hold this year’s McGinty Family Fun Day on Foxboro Common in remembrance of her husband, Michael McGinty, who was killed in the attacks at the World Trade Center on Sept. 11, 2001 at the age of 42.

Michael McGinty’s memory lives on through the annual event on Foxboro Common by offering the community an enjoyable afternoon of fun, food and community service.

Entry to this year’s event is $5 per person or $20 per family. The event will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on the Common.

Three bands will be performing at this year’s event – 36 Red, Odyssey and the Brass Daddies and Blood Sweat & Swing. Food will be prepared by Loewen’s Deli.

Other attractions include: a balloon man, moon walks and an inflatable obstacle course, games, crafts, face painting and tattoos, cookie decorating, Karate demonstration by Personal Best students and raffle prizes, including a signed football by New England Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez.

Foxborough resident and Fox 25 news anchor Maria Stephanos will once again speak during the event’s opening ceremony and St. Mary’s Children’s Choir will sing the National Anthem.

Proceeds raised from McGinty Family Fun Day will go towards the McGinty Scholarship Foundation, which is named in loving memory of Michael McGinty. The foundation awards two $2,500 scholarships each year to college-bound Foxborough residents.

Volunteers run McGinty Family Fun Day, with several groups and businesses donating their time, talent and money. The event is sponsored by the Foxboro Never Forgets, a committee that includes founder Chris Mitchell and his wife Paula, who serves as coordinator of the McGinty Family Fun Day.
