Local Heroes to be Honored at Bass Pro Shops Sunday

Heroes are all around us, yet more times than not they go unnoticed and unappreciated.

So as a way to give back to our heroes - policemen, firemen, paramedics, war veterans, soldiers and military personnel - Bass Pro Shops is opening its doors Sunday, Dec. 9 for a night of special activities and all local heroes and their immediate families are invited to attend.

"At Bass Pro Shops, we believe in heroes and believe they all deserve to be recognized and thanked," the company said in a statement. "To show how much we appreciate our local heroes and their service, [we] will open [our]
doors Sunday night, Dec. 9th, from 7 to 10 p.m. for a very special evening of activities, shopping, discounts and drawings. All Local Heroes and their immediate families are invited to attend."

Heroes must show badges or other identification to attend Sunday's event at Patriot Place.

"[Heroes] and their families can visit the magical Christmas Village that is Santa’s Wonderland and enjoy items like slot car racing, laser and soft gun arcades, remote control cars and trains," the statement said.

Heroes and their families will also have an opportunity for free pictures with Santa until 9 p.m.

A special offer for heroes includes a 10 percent discount on any photo packages they decide to order that night. Kids will be able to make a stuffed Owl ornament during the special craft activity (while supplies last or until 9 p.m.)

Heroes and their families can also enjoy the shopping with a 10 percent discount on regularly priced items and take advantage of special sales offered throughout the store.Free gift wrapping is included.

Special drawings will also be held for Bass Pro Shops gift cards beginning at 7:30 p.m. And, to honor our local and military heroes, a special ornament will be distributed to the first 100 heroes (18 years and older) that arrive at 7 p.m. at the Santa’s Wonderland exhibit inside the store.

"Christmas is a time to remember what others have done for us," the statement said. "There is no better time to show our appreciation for the local heroes that are around us every day."
