Invensys Foxboro YMCA Holds 8th Annual Healthy Futures 5K & Family Day

The Hockomock Area YMCA will hosts its 8th Annual Healthy Futures 5K and Family Day on Sept. 18.

On Sept. 18, the Invensys Foxboro Branch of the Hockomock Area YMCA will hosts its 8th Annual Healthy Futures 5K and Family Day at their Mechanic St. location.

Registration begins at 9:00am. The race route is a flat course through Foxboro, which makes it perfect for all fitness levels. There will be both a running and walking division, awarding the top male and female winners from each age group. There will be family activities from 9am-12pm featuring Radio Disney which will include a kids fun run for crawlers to 9 years old, inflatable obstacle course, free refreshments, and music.

This annual Road Race is held in loving memory of Linda Cavossa, Michael Baker, and Jackie Thomas. Norwood Hospital and Healthcare Billing Specialists are the presenting sponsors of this year’s race.  The funds raised from this event go to support the Hockomock YMCA’s Reach Out for Youth & Families Campaign and specifically to the Healthy Futures initiative. The Healthy Futures Initiative is a region-wide initiative to address the epidemic of obesity and inactivity through a collective community response seeking to connect the YMCA’s 15-community region through physical activity and nutrition.  With a focus on youth wellness, collaborative stakeholders engage children and their families in an effort to raise awareness around the benefits of physical activity and healthy nutritional practices.
