Harvard Pilgrim Kids Fun Run a Success

Harvard Pilgrim and Patriot Place kicked off their 4th of July celebrations with a Kids Fun Run.

Gillette Stadium and Patriot Place kicked off their Fourth of July celebrations on Saturday with a day of fun for the whole family. Early events in the day included face painting and a family scavenger hunt across Patriot Place.

The final event of the day was the Harvard Pilgrim Health Care Kid’s Fun Run. The event allowed over 700 kids ages 12 and under a chance to race on the Gillette Stadium field. Children 6 and under raced in a 50 yard dash across the field while children 7-12 raced around the field. Kids aged 7-8 raced 1 lap around the field, kids 9-10 went 2 laps, and kids 11-12 raced for 3 laps around the field.

Also at the event was local running legend Bill Rogers. The 4-time winner of the Boston Marathon and 4-time winner of the New York Marathon was there to sign autographs and take photos with the young runners and their families. Rogers himself will be back in Foxboro on the Fourth of July run in the Harvard Pilgrim Health Care 10K at Patriot Place. The event is expected to attract over 3000 runners to Gillette Stadium for a race around Foxboro that will end inside Gillette Stadium.
